Vale Base Metals is transforming its business to provide this secure and responsible supply. The company is seeking a Winder to join its Divisional Shops team in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent, on-site position that requires relocation and supports a 24-hour operation. The Winder will be responsible for troubleshooting and performing on-site repairs, contributing to scheduled or emergency repairs, and preventative maintenance work within a shop environment.

Requirements

Completion of a formal Apprenticeship program in Electrical Motor and Apparatus Rewinding and Repair.
Graduated from related schooling.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience (apprenticeship).
Troubleshooting, repair and rewinding of all types of AC Motors, both Mush, and Form coils.
Experience with troubleshooting and repair of DC Motors and Generators.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of transformers is preferred.

Responsibilities

Troubleshooting and performing on-site repairs.
Contribute to scheduled or emergency repairs, and preventative maintenance work to be done in a shop environment.
Test, dismantle, repair, rewind, modify and assemble or overhaul armatures, stators, rotors, commutators and field coils for any size, type and style of A.C. and D.C. electric motors, generators, alternators, transformers and magnetic devices.
Complete breakdown, corrective and minor reports.
Inspect, examine and test parts in order to recommend the extent and nature of the work to be done.
Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.
