About The Position

Spark Power is seeking a Wind Turbine Technician (Troubleshooting) to support operations and maintenance at Bull Creek Wind Farm in Provost, Alberta. The technician will be responsible for working on GE 1.X or similar model GE wind turbines. This is a full-time home position with on-call responsibilities. The role involves climbing wind turbines to perform diagnostic testing, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components. The technician will also be responsible for completing reports, participating in HSE/training programs, adhering to safety policies, and performing scheduled maintenance. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, particularly in electrical and hydraulic systems, and the ability to follow and implement work procedures. Maintaining documentation, inventory, and a clean work area are also key responsibilities. The position requires maintaining required training certifications.

Requirements

  • Alberta residence preferred.
  • 2 years minimum GE 1.X troubleshooting experience OR 3 years minimum wind turbine troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • High computer literacy and aptitude with M365 applications.
  • GE specific training and electrical / mechanical competencies are an asset.
  • GE troubleshooting skillset/experience is a mandatory requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the site On-Call Program on weekends.
  • Climb wind turbines (upwards of 130m) to perform diagnostic testing, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs to mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components/systems.
  • Complete various reports, checklists, and hazard analysis as it pertains to job scope.
  • Participate in company and customer HSE/training programs.
  • Deliver exceptional customer experience/service to our partners in the industry.
  • Follow all Health and Safety policies to maintain a zero-incident workplace.
  • Scheduled maintenance of Wind Turbine Generators including: inspection, greasing, cleaning, torquing and tensioning of bolted connections.
  • Apply LOTO.
  • Electrical Troubleshooting.
  • Hydraulic Troubleshooting.
  • Follow and implement work procedures for specific scopes of work to inspect, repair and maintain Wind Turbine components.
  • Populate, track and communicate client and company documentation on a daily basis.
  • Maintain and track parts/consumables inventory.
  • Complete work orders for preventative and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain a clean work area, equipment and tooling.
  • Perform other daily work requirements as directed by Site Management.
  • Maintain required training certifications for position (Fall Protection/Rescue Training, LOTO, First Aid/CPR/AED) etc.
