About The Position

This position involves assisting with the day-to-day administrative duties within the School of Music Band Area, located in the McCorkle Music Building. The role includes preparing and organizing music folders, parts, scores, and rehearsal resources for the Wind Ensemble and University Band, making them accessible via Canvas or Google Drive. The student worker will also be responsible for updating the Ensemble Library with new music, managing concert logistics and equipment moves, and operating equipment for the weekly Student Recital Hour in Fickling Recital Hall. Additionally, the role requires setting up and tearing down equipment for every rehearsal. The student worker will be supervised by an instrumental graduate student and must take direction to assist them in their duties.

  • Must qualify for Federal Work-Study Program.
  • Well organized.
  • Music background required.
  • Light typing, copying, and folding.
  • Light lifting.
  • Strong people skills needed.
  • Willingness to work is a must.
  • Looking for a self-starter.
  • Must be a current School of Music student in good standing.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have excellent grammar and spelling skills.
  • Must have the ability to work well without constant supervision.
  • Must be dependable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with administrative day-to-day duties in the School of Music Band Area.
  • Copy, scan, and prepare Wind Ensemble and University Band folders, parts, scores, and rehearsal/practice resources.
  • Keep music organized and available to members via Canvas OR Google Drive.
  • Update the Ensemble Library when new music arrives (stamp, record in excel, etc.).
  • Lead concert production and equipment moves, including planning, executing, and coordination.
  • Run the weekly Student Recital Hour, including recording, lights, and backstage work.
  • Set-up AND tear-down for every rehearsal.
