About The Position

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is seeking a Wildlife Biologist 3 to oversee major programs that support healthy ecosystems. This position offers the opportunity to work with partners, staff, and landowners to improve habitats on both public and private lands, utilizing expertise to benefit wildlife and the community. The role involves leading statewide habitat partnership efforts to support wildlife conservation and improve habitat conditions through guiding projects, collaborations, and scientific work. Key duties include overseeing statewide habitat partnership operations, directing habitat management projects, advising partners and landowners on wildlife habitat practices, collaborating with various agencies and conservation groups, developing and delivering training, and analyzing habitat data for reports and publications.

Requirements

  • One year of experience as a Wildlife Biologist 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title).
  • Four years of technical wildlife research and evaluation experience and three years of professional experience in wildlife management research, and thirty-six college credits in wildlife management, wildlife biology, animal or plant ecology, zoology, botany, or a closely related field, and six college credits in statistics or biometry.
  • Three years of professional experience in wildlife management research, and a bachelor’s degree that includes thirty-six college credits in wildlife management, wildlife biology, animal or plant ecology, zoology, botany, or a closely related field, and six college credits in statistics or biometry.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes thirty-six college credits in wildlife management, wildlife biology, animal or plant ecology, zoology, botany, or a closely related field, and six college credits in statistics or biometry.
  • Possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee statewide habitat partnership operations and guide conservation activities.
  • Direct habitat management projects and support staff across regions.
  • Prepare materials and advise partners and landowners on wildlife habitat practices.
  • Work with federal, state, and local agencies and conservation groups on habitat programs.
  • Develop and provide trainings and workshops on habitat and wildlife management.
  • Analyze habitat data and prepare reports, proposals, and publications for agency needs.
