About The Position

The School of Natural Resources and the Environment at West Virginia University is seeking to hire a field technician to assist graduate students with research on wild turkey ecology and management. The field technician will assist with monitoring turkey survival/nesting and collecting associated environmental data. The technician will also help with data entry/organization, and equipment upkeep. This position will work closely with individuals from WVU and the WV Division of Natural Resources.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in wildlife biology, ecology, or related field
  • 0-6 months related experience
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
  • Ability to work both independently and part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work in harsh weather conditions and in difficult terrain
  • Experience communicating with the public while in the field
  • Basic knowledge of data entry in Excel
