About The Position

The Wig Build Technician is responsible for building and styling all wigs under supervision of the Shop Manager per designs from the Wig Designer. This role requires a working knowledge of hair styles including period, modern, and fantasy, and the ability to ventilate, alter, repair, and style wigs. The technician must adhere to all rules and regulations required by the Actor's Equity Association, including Covid-19 additions, and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards to maintain a safe work environment. The position contributes to the overall success of the Production Department by performing any additional duties and responsibilities assigned.

Requirements

Ability to ventilate and re-front wigs as well as adding/removing weft
Knowledge of roller sets and hair styling techniques
Knowledge of classic marcel
May need to create wig styles over the top of wig cages
Ability to collaborate with the wig team as well as other departments
Ability to listen, take instruction, and work with performers and staff in a positive and professional manner while on campus at all times
Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast paced environment

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of facial hair styling
At least 1 years of professional work experience in a live theatrical environment as a Wig Builder or equivalent educational experience
Cosmetology license
