About The Position

The Pottawattamie County WIC Program has an opening for a full-time support staff person to work directly with WIC participants, WIC staff and serve as a receptionist. Responsible for general office duties, appointments, and entering data into the WIC computer system.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate and work well with the public.
  • Ability to type accurately and have general knowledge of basic computer software.
  • Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Inputs client information into the WIC computer System needed to complete all appointment types following HHS WIC program policy and procedures.
  • Issues WIC benefits and Farmer’s Market vouchers, explains the general use of WIC benefits, issues eWIC cards, and acts as receptionist for all clients entering office.
  • Updates the WIC computer System as per instructions from the State WIC Office.
  • Responsible for maintaining participant records, transferring information to and from other state agencies, keeping records and reports necessary for program compliance.
  • Uses appropriate reports to follow up on missed appointments, pending terminations and newly eligible participants and files completed reports electronically.
  • Attends all mandatory agency and state meetings.
  • Answers phone, schedules WIC participant appointments
  • Participates in WIC outreach activities and events
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
