About The Position
Community Teamwork is a private non-profit organization located in Lowell MA. We employee over 600 employees and are a catalyst for social change. The WIC Nutritionist will be part of a team that is focused on helping families to meet their nutrition goals. They are responsible for performing nutrition assessment and certification, counseling, nutrition education and supporting family needs through referrals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Food and Nutrition, or Nutrition Education required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sensitivity to the needs of the participant population.
- Thorough understanding of and commitment to serving the health and wellness needs of children families, and staff.
- Availability to work at multiple WIC sites and during evening and weekend hours, as needed.
Nice To Haves
- One year of clinical or community nutrition preferred.
Responsibilities
- Anthropometric and hematological data collection.
- Dietary assessment, nutritional risk assessment and food package prescription.
- Nutrition and breastfeeding counseling and education.
- Documentation and data entry.
- Referrals to other health and social services.
- Follow-up nutrition education.
- Educational materials and group nutrition education sessions.
- Participant counseling and education strategies.
- Must be able to travel to the WIC Learning Center in Framingham, MA to attend trainings as needed.
- Nutrition in-services and outreach activities.
- Nutrition policies.
- Training paraprofessional WIC staff.
- Conducting quality assurance activities.
- Assisting in the training of CPA I and II.
- Communicates with the healthcare community on issues pertaining to participant needs.

- Other related duties may be assigned.
