Position Summary: Conduct a nutrition and health assessment of nutritionally at-risk pregnant, breastfeeding, and early postpartum eligible WIC participants and their infants and children up to the age of five. Provide nutrition education and information based on the need of the individual and set nutrition related goals. Ensure compliance with standards, laws, and regulations as promulgated by regulatory agencies such as Ohio Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Provide basic breastfeeding/chestfeeding support and education for pregnant and breastfeeding/chestfeeding WIC participants Use motivational interviewing to conduct nutrition assessments, set nutrition related SMART goals, and assess beliefs and barriers to breastfeeding/chestfeeding in targeted WIC population WIC Health Professional (HP) Standards of Practice and Responsibilities WIC HPs are expected to follow the standards of practice linked to their credentials and the professional performance expectations set by Ohio WIC and ZMCHD. WIC Health Professional training Requirements HPs will complete adequate and appropriate competency-based trainings for the HP to provide quality nutrition education, including breastfeeding promotion and support, to ensure staff competencies. Other Duties: May be required to report to the Emergency Command Center in the event of a public health emergency Attends staff meetings; serves on committees as requested. Attend health fairs and special events, prepare displays for events, develop educational materials and work with the ZMCHD Public Information Officer (PIO) and media. Support and participate in quality improvement and employee wellness activities. Other duties as assigned Qualifications: An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
