Wholesale Planner

Carters Inc.Atlanta, GA
Hybrid

About The Position

Carter’s is hiring a Planner to own the planning for Walmart — one of our largest and most strategic wholesale partnerships. This is an ownership role from day one: you will build the production forecasts and retail ladder plans that drive the business, bring your own recommendations to sales and merchandising leadership, and see your decisions show up on shelves nationwide. You will work a hybrid schedule out of our Atlanta office alongside the sales, merchandising, and supply chain partners you plan with, and you will sit on a defined career path with a clear next step to Senior Planner. If you want a seat at the table rather than a seat behind a spreadsheet, this is the role.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in merchandise or financial planning within retail or wholesale
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, lookup functions, large data sets)
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain forecasts and retail ladder plans
  • Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Strong communication and relationship skills for cross-functional and retailer-facing collaboration
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • BS or BA degree, or equivalent practical planning experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience planning for a mass retailer (Walmart, Target, or similar)
  • Familiarity with planning systems (Anaplan, Blue Yonder, or similar) and retail reporting tools
  • Experience in the apparel industry and/or the children’s business
  • Interest in mentoring analysts and associate planners as the team grows

Responsibilities

  • Own the planning for the Walmart account: identify inventory opportunities to improve profitability and productivity and drive topline sales
  • Create and maintain monthly production forecasts and retail sales ladders for annual replenishment and seasonal fashion programs, using space and modular planning to optimize productive inventory levels
  • Present scenario-driven strategy proposals and hindsight to sales, merchandising, and planning leadership for collaborative decision-making
  • Analyze historical data and current trends to identify risks and opportunities by department and classification; communicate risk early and propose corrective action
  • Partner with sales and merchandising to establish clear sales targets aligned to organizational goals
  • Complete support requests from senior leadership and sales leaders, often on short timeframes
  • Act as the Supply Chain liaison for planning: manage product allocations and serve as the escalation point to mitigate service challenges
  • Troubleshoot item setup issues and resolve fulfillment escalations
  • Oversee allocation tools and system enhancements to streamline workflow and communication
  • Mentor analysts and associate planners on planning processes and standards
