This role provides oversight, monitoring, and reporting on operational risks for Capital Markets and Commercial Banking. It involves developing and monitoring the operational management framework, including governance practices, to manage operational risks. The position also provides policies, standards, methodologies, and controls to enhance transparency, accuracy, and consistency across groups. The analyst will work with stakeholders to implement methodology, metrics, and program standards for their assigned portfolio to ensure compliance, effective monitoring, timely reporting, and identification of action plans. This role acts as a trusted advisor, guiding the identification and classification of issues, recommending action plans, and influencing to achieve business objectives. The analyst will also be involved in developing strategic plans, identifying emerging issues and trends, researching requirements and best practices, and assisting with the interpretation of new or changing regulations and their impact on governance frameworks. Additionally, the role supports the development and execution of strategic initiatives, represents the model validation program for audits, coordinates database management, and leads change management activities including communication plans. The analyst will also lead and integrate the monitoring, measurement, and reporting of the operational risk governance program, manage governance meetings, and may provide specialized support for other regulatory requirements. The role involves designing, implementing, and managing core business processes, administering operational risk program activities, identifying potential risk situations, and developing in-depth knowledge of business and risk management requirements. Building effective relationships with stakeholders is crucial for providing 'second line of defense' operational risk management support. The analyst will analyze data to provide insights and recommendations, monitor performance, and coordinate the review and sign-off of attestations and reporting. Maintaining tools and templates for operational risk programs is also part of the role. The focus is primarily on the business/group within BMO, but may have a broader enterprise-wide focus. The analyst will provide specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support, exercising judgment to solve problems and handling non-routine situations independently. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
