About The Position

The Whey Department Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Whey Facility, including plant production, sanitation, staffing, equipment, utilities, inventory, safety, waste management, and regulatory and customer inspections. The role also develops and manages key performance indicators and budgets for the Whey Evaporator. The listed responsibilities describe the general nature and level of the work and are not exhaustive; other duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements

• Five years of experience in a supervisory capacity is preferred.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

• A degree is preferred.
• Cheese or dairy experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor ongoing plant operations and report to management.
• Ensure products meet company and customer specifications.
• Oversee plant sanitation.
• Staff, train, schedule, and evaluate plant employees.
• Ensure plant equipment is maintained as required.
• Maintain plant charts and production records.
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of boilers.
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of the water polisher.
• Monitor inventory levels of supplies.
• Participate in planning and coordinating plant projects.
• Work with regulatory and customer inspectors.
• Participate in and promote safety programs.
• Manage waste management responsibilities.
• Develop and manage KPIs and budgets for the Whey Evaporator.
• Perform the Whey Department Supervisor’s duties when necessary, such as during vacations or absences.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
