About The Position

Dent Wizard is seeking a Wheel Remanufacturing Technician for their facility in St. Louis, MO. In this role, you will be responsible for fixing cosmetic damages on wheels, such as curb and road rash, peeling, scrapes, gouges, and oxidation, using spray-painting equipment, power tools, and work aids. Your tasks will include painting surfaces, inspecting wheels, prepping and buffing defects, mixing colors, and finishing. The role involves a significant amount of hands-on work with wheels, including inspection, disassembly, cleaning, preparation, repair, restoration, painting, balancing, and reassembly. Additionally, you will perform quality control checks, mix paint colors, operate CNC machines, tire changers, and wheel balancing equipment. You will also serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Technician for the division, maintaining records and interacting with customers to discuss repair options and provide estimates.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of wheel repair and restoration techniques
  • Great communication skills to interact with customers.
  • Manual dexterity for repetitive-motion tasks; proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
  • Toughness and grit to work outside in all kinds of weather.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Frequent lifting of heavy wheels
  • Frequent standing, kneeling, bending, and squatting.
  • Ability to lift up to 65 pounds.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in wheel refurbishing or automotive repair is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly inspect wheels for damage, cracks, bends, or other issues.
  • Evaluate the extent of damage to determine the repair or refurbishment required.
  • Remove tires, valve stems, and other components from the wheels.
  • Strip the old finish or paint from the wheels.
  • Clean and degrease the wheel surfaces to prepare them for repair.
  • Sand, grind, or use other methods to smooth out imperfections and remove rust or corrosion.
  • Weld or straighten wheels to correct bends or dents.
  • Apply filler materials and sand to ensure a smooth and even surface.
  • Re-paint or re-finish the wheels to match the original appearance or as specified by the customer.
  • Balance wheels to ensure they rotate evenly and reduce vibrations when in use.
  • Reinstall tires, valve stems, and any other components that were removed during disassembly.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure that the wheels meet safety and appearance standards.
  • Make any necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Mix to specified color using standard formulas or color charts.
  • Paint surfaces of wheels using spray-painting equipment.
  • Operate CNC Machines, Tire Changer and Wheel balancing equipment.
  • Serve as SME Technician for the Division.
  • Maintain records of wheel refurbishing processes, repairs, and customer specifications.
  • Interact with customers to discuss repair or refurbishment options, provide cost estimates, and answer questions.
