About The Position

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. Our Troy, OH site location has an immediate need for a Wheel Paint and Assembly Operator. In this role you will assemble parts and operate robotic paint equipment to paint wheels and brakes, and their components. This is a 2nd Shift position, Monday-Friday 3P-11P.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a HS diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year CNC machining experience or minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working with technical documents (including any of the following: routings, blueprints, Engineering process specifications, written work instructions.)
  • Perform mathematical calculations requiring addition, subtraction, multiplication or division and pass a pre-employment qualification test.
  • Pass a vision assessment once per year, including an initial normal color vision test prior to employment.
  • Perform substantial reaching and moving while standing, twisting; stooping; and be response to sounds associated to the work environment.
  • Lift to 25 lbs. unassisted, anything over 25 lbs. would be assisted.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Adhere to all EH&S roles and responsibilities as stated in manufacturing work instructions and EHS policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Receive job assignments from the supervisor or job assignment book.
  • Read and understand operating procedures, blueprints, engineering change notices (ECNs), and quality specifications.
  • Operate and set up Tocco's and balancers, including cup presses, balancers, stamping, and washer operations.
  • Hang wheels onto the automated paint system and prepare them for priming and top coating.
  • Demask and unload wheels; determine and use proper tooling and masking.
  • Operate automated lift/tilt tables and HMI screens for part numbers, shop orders, recipe entries, and NADCAP data collection.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot robotic paint systems, including fluid delivery components like regulators, guns, lines, valves, and pumps.
  • Assess paint quality according to requirements.
  • Complete wheel assembly tasks including hardware installation, torque application, bearing lubrication, stamping, and touch-up painting.
  • Conduct in-process inspections and ensure traceability through proper documentation (e.g., run-out, SPC).
  • Prepare wheels for inspection, perform riveter operations, and handle packaging, counting, weighing, and labeling for shipment.
  • Manually prime and paint, mix paint to specified viscosity, and maintain manual spray guns and pots.
  • Fill out NADCAP data forms and label documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, address quality concerns immediately.
  • Retrieve items from the tool crib and complete necessary forms/transactions.
