About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment and optimizing the milling process. The Wheat Runner Operator will set the proper mill wheat mix, monitor cleaning house operations to minimize wheat loss, and operate the cleaning house to temper wheat to the desired moisture level for optimal milling efficiency. They will also be involved in maintenance and repair tasks within the mill and cleaning house, and must comply with all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures.

  • Able to meet physical requirements of the position including, but not limited to; prolonged periods of standing, sitting, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, using cleaning tools, working in a variety of conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.), lift up to 55 lbs.
  • Willing to work overtime, rotating shift work and weekend work, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate safe work practices according to ADM policies and procedures.
  • Be engaged in plant safety culture.
  • Take part in shift transition and huddle meetings daily.
  • Actively attend all safety training and meetings as required.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for both employees and visitors.
  • Set proper mill wheat mix.
  • Follow production sheet to pull and temper proper wheat mix.
  • Monitor cleaning house to minimize wheat loss.
  • Operate cleaning house to temper wheat to desired level of moisture for optimal milling efficiency.
  • Ensure mill has proper wheat mix, wheat has optimal moisture gain, and production schedule is followed.
  • Sample raw wheat.
  • Make proper wheat mix adjustments.
  • Make temper water adjustments.
  • Set and monitor ingredient feeder rates.
  • Produce a food safe product that meets the specifications of the customer.
  • Participate in mill and cleaning house repairs to include: roll changes, sifter repair, filter sock changing, purifier repair, spout repairs.
  • Change or clean blower filters and service hammer mill equipment.
  • Take directions from Miller Mill Supervisor and Mill Superintendent.
  • Optimize cleaning house efficiency and minimize unscheduled downtime.
  • Monitor and control cleaning house feed in stations.
  • Perform weekly magnet checks.
  • Document all rebuilt and patent sifter repairs.
  • Comply with all HACCP procedures while maintaining master cleaning schedules.
  • Ensure a quality product through systematic procedures.
  • Follow proper master sanitation and all cleaning procedures within all areas.
  • Control and maintain required housekeeping standards.
