About The Position
TRC is seeking a Seasonal Wetland Technician to join their Permitting, Planning and Licensing team. This role involves supporting wetland delineations, construction monitoring, and various biological natural resource tasks. The position requires travel for field assignments throughout New York and New England, with potential for longer-term assignments. Typical projects include renewable energy, electric transmission, natural gas pipeline, transportation, and infrastructure development.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 to 3+ years of applicable experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in forestry, botany, biology, wildlife, fisheries, natural resources, wetland science or related field.
- Experience using GPS equipment.
- Ability to understand and work in line with scope, schedule, budget, and quality while meeting client needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to comfortably interact with clients, stakeholders, and contractors.
- Experience with preparing technical reports and permit applications.
- Maintain a positive attitude and deliver exceptional client service.
- Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

- Wetland Professional in Training Certification, or Professional Wetland Scientist Certification.
- Experience with local and state environmental permitting in New York and/or Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
- Experience with federal environmental permitting.
- Experience working on energy, transportation, and/or solar projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead wetland delineators with wetland delineations using GPS equipment.
- Conduct construction monitoring and/or stormwater inspections for utility line or solar projects, reviewing best management practice installation and function.
- Assist with a mix of biological natural resource related field and office tasks, including but not limited to construction inspection reports, wetland delineation reports, health and safety plans, environmental permitting, proposals, budget preparation, hand harvesting of invasive aquatic species, water quality sampling, Phase 1 ESA, wildlife monitoring.
- Assure each assignment follows the project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Effectively manage field work, support other technical staff, and interact in the field with clients, stakeholders, regulators, and contractors.
- Be willing and physically able to travel and work outdoors in rough and remote terrain under challenging environmental and weather conditions carrying all necessary gear.
