About The Position

As a Wetland Scientist at LIVIC Civil, you’ll play a critical role. This person will be a self-motivated, professional who can confidently work with a variety of people from different backgrounds within the Civil Engineering field. We’re looking for an organized, proactive individual who is a quick study and can communicate effectively, manage shifting priorities, and tackle complex challenges. Someone who is proactive, curious and willing to experiment with emerging tools a nd technologies to enhance our business and project workflow efficiencies while we aim to develop you professionally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Biology, Ecology, Soil Science, Hydrology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or related degree.
  • Ability to read blueprints and job-related documents
  • Prior experience with identification of flora and fauna native to the Northeast.
  • Competency in general MS Office applications (Word, Excel) required.
  • Ability to conduct field work for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather and travel out of town to complete projects as needed.
  • Strong technical report writing skills, and flexibility to work in both group and one-on-one environments.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record and able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Strong technical education, professional demeanor, and a desire to learn.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Five to Seven (5-7) years of field experience is preferred, with at least one (1) year in a lead role, performing wetland delineations in the Pennsylvania region, including previous experience following the USACE 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual, the Eastern Mountains & Piedmont Regional Supplement, and the Northcentral & Northeast Regional Supplement.
  • Certified Wetland Delineator and ability to become a Professional Wetland Scientist.
  • Experience with USACE Atypical and Problem Wetland Areas methodology is preferred.
  • Familiarity using Trimble and ESRI products.
  • Travel to other offices as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Wetland delineation field work and technical report writing.
  • Lead and direct wetland and stream delineation fieldwork and reporting
  • Conduct wetland delineations, stream assessments, and floristic inventories
  • Support preparation of Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 401/404 permit applications
  • Assist with mitigation design, monitoring and habitat assessments
  • Collaborate with project teams and agencies to support environmental compliance
  • Soils assessment as part of the wetland delineation field data collection activities.
  • Collect, record, manage, and analyze geospatial data using Trimble and ESRI products.
  • Coordinating and meeting with regulatory agency staff.
  • Preparing and submitting threatened & endangered species consultations with regulatory agencies.
  • Apply situational awareness to mitigate in-field risks and ensure compliance with industry standards and client-specific safety requirements.
