The mission of a wet sander is to level the final coats of lacquer on a guitar, removing small blemishes and imperfections, and creating an ideal surface that can be polished. This is accomplished by sanding with progressively higher grits of sandpaper, starting with 800 grit and ending with 1000. Wet sanding is a vital step in producing a product that can be buffed to a high finish and helps create the uniquely beautiful guitars that Gibson is known for.
