Bureau Veritas Canada is looking for a Wet Assay – Laboratory Technician. This role performs routine and non-routine duties in the Wet Assay Lab, including clerical or physical functions and analysis of samples by established analytical techniques. Requirements

  • BSc. in Chemistry, Technical Diploma or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Accurately conduct routine and non-routine analyses of samples using the appropriate method or instrument and in accordance with the established schedule
  • Provide technical support to the senior technician for any duties and tasks that are assigned from time to time
  • Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements
  • Accurately follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and instructions
  • Prepare chemical reagents and calibration standards for the use in the laboratory
  • Handling all chemicals in accordance to Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
  • Perform daily, weekly or monthly chemical inventory count and other cleanup duties as required
  • Operate and perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of all instruments such as Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS), auto-titrator, pH and conductivity meter, UV-vis Spectrometer, Pycnometer.
  • Assist in setting up and conducting chemical experiments, tests and analyses
  • Compile records for analytical studies, maintain a high quality of results to clients.
  • Comply with occupational health and safety legislation, BV Group Policies and Procedures, Upstream Minerals Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the position
  • Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Maintain training records and relevant qualifications
  • Participate in a weekly department meeting
  • Participate when requested in internal and external audits
  • Keep the work area clean, neat and organized at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
