Role Overview As the Wellness Supervisor, your leadership shapes the community's atmosphere. You will collaborate with residents and their care teams to coordinate and evaluate all services, ensuring a high standard of hospitality. The Wellness Manager/Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing all clinical and healthcare services for residents, adhering to the best clinical practices. You will champion well-being by embracing a person-directed approach that honors residents’ unique needs and celebrates their individual preferences. You will collaborate with various professionals to ensure efficient care and achieve optimal resident outcomes. As a key leader, you’ll work closely with the General Manager, Health Services partners, and other service areas to create a vibrant community culture where residents thrive.

Requirements

Grade 12 Diploma or recognized equivalent is required.
Must be able to read, write and speak fluently in English.
Graduate of a recognized RN program
Registered and in good standing with the related Licensing Body CRNA
Valid Certification in First Aid and CPR.
Current clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector check
1-2 years’ experience in facilitating adult learning
3-5 years’ experience in leading a large clinical team and employee performance management
3-5 years’ experience leading a team within a unionized environment
2-5 years of experience in recruitment, onboarding and training
5-7 years’ recent experience in using the following programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, electronic health records and the Internet
Strong organizational, problem solving and time management skills
Commitment to Person Directed Care
Ability to remain calm and professional under stress, pressure or escalated circumstances
A patient team player – flexible, positive motivator, and professional role model
Demonstrates an awareness/knowledge of accident and injury prevention; adheres to safe work practices and procedures

Nice To Haves

Completion of applicable courses (e.g. Preventing Resident Abuse, Customer Service, Infection Control, Back Care, Dementia, WHMIS)
Current familiarity with the Eden Alternative Philosophy and the Domains of Well-Being is preferred

Responsibilities

Responsible for initial and on-going professional communication with health care professionals such as Doctors, Pharmacists, Case Managers, families, and any other care partners required to advocate and facilitate appropriate and excellent care for the Resident. Ensure communication fosters trust, transparency, and collaboration.
Serves as the lead investigator in clinical incidents and provides professional response to escalated concerns from residents, family and care partners. Approach challenges with empathy and solution-focused mindset.
Ensures Residents have up to date Care Plans in the electronic health record system where applicable, and in the resident chart using the approved service authorization from Alberta Health Services if applicable. Reflect residents’ stories and preferences in their wellness (care) plans.
Delegates and allocates clinical care partner’s tasks and work assignments as required.
Develops ongoing schedules for the clinical team, supports urgent relief scheduling of clinical care partners as required and accurate payroll records while maintaining the clinical service area accountable hours and labour budget. Ensure schedules and work assignments align with resident needs and care partner wellness.
Provides follow up and communicates outcomes to the general manager and necessary stakeholders on all incidents, safety concerns, audit results, resident and family concerns, care partner concerns and other regulatory reporting requirements.
Ensures there is professional documentation of residents’ individualized priorities, target dates, strategies, outcomes, interventions, assessments, follow ups, communication to ensure the best possible outcomes for each resident
Ensures the completion of required audits of charts, wound care binders, medication drawer audits, and bath temperature sheets, resident supply checks and others as assigned, to ensure quality and compliance. Use audits as an opportunity to enhance quality and create a safer, more comfortable environment.
Audits the process for the supply, control, and safekeeping of medications and narcotics, following our wellness strategies and LPN best practices. Promote resident participation and understanding of their medication management when appropriate.
Attends and participates in various committees, clinical meetings, audits or other such activities as assigned by the General Manager.
Identifies and reviews reported health and safety, or maintenance issues, actions and supports the development of action plans to remove concerns and manage workplace incidents using established wellness strategies.
Ensures appropriate implementation of Infection Prevention and Control practices as per Environmental Public Health.
Ongoing monitoring of the workplace environment and adherence to safe work practices
Provide impartial support, education and excellent relationship building skills to nurture, understand, and respect residents, families, visitors, and care partners. Foster connections that promote a sense of community.
Provide clear and concise feedback and information to the General Manager of observed opportunities for improvement.
Accountable for ordering of supplies, managing an “just in time” inventory and maintaining the budget for service area expenses.
On time completion of all annual mandatory education required by provincial regulations and the organization.
