About The Position

The Wellness Program Assistant is a key member of the interdisciplinary team supporting the daily operations of the Wellness Center at Bethany Women’s Center. This position provides direct client support, assists with wellness programming, and helps maintain a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed environment for women experiencing homelessness and housing instability. The Wellness Program Assistant supports the implementation of holistic wellness services that promote physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. This role assists with program coordination, client engagement, wellness activities, referrals, and operational tasks to help women access resources and improve overall health outcomes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1–2 years of experience in social services, wellness programming, homeless services, or community-based settings preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with vulnerable and diverse populations.
  • Basic understanding of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and client-centered service delivery.
  • Ability to facilitate or support group activities and workshops.
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.

Nice To Haves

  • associate or bachelor’s degree in social work, Public Health, Psychology, Health Education, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in shelters, day programs, or supportive housing environments.
  • Familiarity with wellness practices such as mindfulness, nutrition, or fitness programming.
  • Bilingual abilities are preferred.
  • Experience supporting volunteers and community partnerships.
  • Passion for social justice, women’s wellness, and serving individuals experiencing homelessness.

Responsibilities

  • Build respectful, supportive, and trauma-informed relationships with clients through daily interactions.
  • Provide a welcoming and client-centered environment that promotes dignity, safety, and empowerment.
  • Support clients in accessing wellness services, hygiene resources, meals, and basic needs.
  • Assist with wellness program intakes and provide general program orientation.
  • Help connect clients to community resources including healthcare, behavioral health, housing, employment, and social services.
  • Support de-escalation efforts and assist staff in managing crises or conflicts when needed.
  • Encourage participation in wellness activities, workshops, and supportive services.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and facilitation of wellness programs and activities focused on mental wellness, physical activity, nutrition, mindfulness, stress management, and disease prevention.
  • Support wellness initiatives including fitness classes, health screenings, workshops, wellness challenges, and community events.
  • Coordinate schedules for wellness activities, volunteers, and community partners to ensure smooth program delivery.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of wellness and functional literacy programming.
  • Create and distribute the monthly wellness calendar across N Street Village programs and departments.
  • Assist with daily program setup and breakdown, including meal preparation areas, hygiene supplies, laundry items, activity materials, and general cleaning responsibilities.
  • Serve meals in accordance with agency guidelines and food safety protocols, as needed.
  • Provide front desk support for the Wellness Center, including greeting clients, answering questions, and directing visitors appropriately.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and functionality of the Wellness Center, including bulletin boards, supplies, and program materials.
  • Coordinate with vendors and community partners, as needed, to support the delivery of supplies, services, and wellness activities.
  • Complete and maintain all required documentation, including daily activity logs, incident reports, monthly reports, attendance tracking, and referral records.
  • Track wellness program participation, client engagement, and program outcomes to support service effectiveness and reporting needs.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives through data collection, program evaluation, and ongoing assessment of client needs and program impact.
  • Collaborate with volunteers, wellness instructors, healthcare providers, and partner agencies to support the delivery of services to women.
  • Assist with volunteer coordination, onboarding, and ongoing support to ensure effective engagement and program success.
  • Participate in staff meetings, interdisciplinary team meetings, supervision sessions, and training opportunities to support professional growth and program alignment.
  • Support partnerships with community organizations to expand access to wellness services and strengthen supportive resources for clients.
  • Adhere to agency policies, procedures, confidentiality standards, and safety guidelines to ensure compliance and quality service delivery.
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts to strengthen program effectiveness and improve client outcomes.
  • Report serious incidents, allegations, or sensitive concerns to the Program Manager in accordance with agency protocols.
  • Maintain professionalism, ethical conduct, accountability, and confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed care throughout program operations and service delivery.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to support continuity of care, effective communication, and coordinated services.
  • Participate in agency training, staff development, and organizational initiatives to support professional growth and program success.
  • Foster a safe, respectful, welcoming, and empowering environment for clients, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
