About The Position

The primary objective of this classification is to meticulously coordinate, develop, and implement comprehensive employee wellness programs aimed at enhancing the overall well-being of staff members. This involves designing and managing initiatives that promote physical, mental, and emotional health. Additionally, this role includes overseeing the operations and maintenance of the County Employee Fitness Centers, ensuring it serves as a state-of-the-art facilities that encourages active lifestyles and provides necessary equipment and services to support fitness goals. Furthermore, the classification encompasses offering expert assistance to the Employee Health Clinic, ensuring that employees have access to superior medical care and health-related resources. This entails collaborating with healthcare professionals to provide health education, preventive care, and support services that foster a healthier work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Public Health Administration or related field; supplemented by five years of progressively responsible experience coordinating wellness programs; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess and maintain the following certifications: CPR, First Aid, Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor.
  • Must also possess and maintain one of the following certifications: ACE, ACTION, AAPTE, ACSM, CSCS, Cooper Institute, NASM, NCSF, NCCPT, NESTA, NETA, NFPT, or NSCA.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, coordinates, and implements the County's wellness programs and associated initiatives and activities: organizes health fairs, run/walks, wellness challenges, and other wellness events; responds to inquiries and requests related to wellness programs; leads wellness committee meetings; prepares and analyzes program reports and statistics; and ensures programs are in compliance with relevant laws.
  • Increases utilization and effectiveness of wellness initiatives, programs, and delivery: prepares and analyzes program reports and statistics; evaluates effectiveness of programs and services in meeting wellness objectives; researches wellness programs and makes recommendations for program changes; and promotes wellness programs and services to employees, and maintains the wellness budget.
  • Manages the county's Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Oversees fitness center and clinic facilities: conducts new member orientations; inspects equipment and contacts vendors for repairs; monitors center use; maintains and cleans equipment; and coordinate and monitors surveillance/security systems for the clinic and fitness centers.
  • Provides health and fitness coaching to employees: conducts health assessments and interviews; designs personal fitness programs to help employees meet wellness goals; and motivates employees to correct unhealthy habits.
  • Provides support and oversight for the employee health clinic: orders and maintains supplies for clinic operation; verifies employee eligibility for clinic services; serves as liaison with contracted clinic staff; organizes clinic tours and events; and provides feedback to County on clinic operations.
  • Maintains records and reports related to wellness programs: secures and maintains employee's shared health information and liability forms; monitors program expenses; and prepares activity reports; coordinates County wellness incentive program; communicates with vendors as needed.
  • Supervises wellness staff as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of changes in the field of kinesiology, physiology, exercise science and ACSM guidelines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
