This full-time, regular position at DCC's Advising, Retention & Counseling Center involves leading the review, creation, implementation, and enhancement of services, programs, training, policies, and procedures. The role supports students with disabilities or those needing supportive services due to sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking, aiming to enhance student success, retention, and ensure federal compliance. The position also assists the Title IX Coordinator by providing expertise on Title IX, VAWA, and related federal and state laws. The Supervisor/Counselor serves as the primary resource for campus student accessibility and collaborates with the Title IX Coordinator to identify and implement support services. This role involves informing faculty about student academic accommodations, legal responsibilities, and necessary modifications, as well as educating them on their rights and responsibilities for equal educational access. Responsibilities include monitoring and reporting performance, managing office contracts, serving as a lead for the ADA Taskforce and college-wide counseling, and acting as a liaison between college leadership, faculty, and counselors. The position requires conducting crisis/triage assessments and referrals, assisting in the oversight of counseling staff selection, training, professional development, and evaluation. Additionally, it involves providing online counseling services, maintaining confidential student records, offering community resources and follow-up, and developing caseloads for at-risk students. The role may involve serving on the College Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment Team, reviewing medical documentation for accommodations, and ensuring ADA consistency across campus. The ADA/504 Counselor, in consultation with legal counsel and the Office of EEO and Title IX, will make protocol alterations as needed. The position also includes educating faculty and staff on ADA and 504 regulations, providing campus-wide awareness training, and fostering collaborative working relationships with other departments and community partners. Compliance with DAAPP, BITAT/Maxient, Title IX, VAWA, and related laws is essential. A working knowledge of student disability rights, Office of Civil Rights grievance procedures, and providing accessibility awareness training are key components. Collaboration with students, families, faculty, staff, mental/medical health providers, and social workers is expected, along with coordination with Records and the Office of EEO and Title IX on discrimination complaints. Other duties as assigned are also part of the role.
