About The Position

The Bed Truck Driver: Levels 1 - 3 is responsible for moving all equipment around on location and reporting to the Truck Pusher. This role involves ensuring all required paperwork is completed, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and performing light maintenance on the units driven. The position requires adherence to all DOT laws, rules, and regulations, and a willingness to travel and work long hours, including weekends, on short notice. The company is a drug-free workplace and does not accommodate medical marijuana use.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age, according to USDOT regulations
  • Must pass a post-offer physical examination, fitness testing, safety aptitude test, drug tests & background check
  • Must provide proof of and maintain proper legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Must arrange for reliable transportation to and from work and training locations
  • Must be able to speak and read English well enough to understand verbal and written safety postings, alerts and announcements, communicate with co-workers and be able to participate in job safety analysis meetings
  • Must maintain a valid CDL Class A License, preferably with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements
  • Must have a good driving record and medical card
  • Must meet Ensign Insurance Requirements to drive, including permission for release of driver records
  • Possession and use of Marijuana, whether for medical use or otherwise, constitutes a federal offense and the Company enforces written policy prohibiting working for Ensign while Marijuana is in the body.

Responsibilities

  • Works in a safe, healthy, and environmentally protective manner
  • Moves drilling rigs and related equipment from the current location to the new location
  • Ensures all required paperwork is in their truck
  • Keeps trip sheets, interstate mileage records, and logbooks
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment and performs light maintenance on units they drive
  • Maintains pre-trip inspection records
  • Abides by and is responsible for enforcement of safety policies
  • Follows all load securement requirements
  • Follows direction and is in close communication with supervisor and rig managers
  • Documents work per Ensign standards
  • Abides by all DOT laws, rules and regulations and is willing and able to travel when and where requested
  • Demonstrates willingness and availability to work long hours and weekends when requested on short notice
  • Reports and corrects any unsafe work practices and safety hazards
  • Participates in all safety programs, processes and requirements
  • Attends Operations Training up to two times per year and up to five days per training at designated locations
  • Performs other duties as directed by management
  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Demonstrates knowledge of capabilities of truck
  • Checks lines for wear or breakage
  • Communicates well and completes paper work and logs properly
  • Demonstrates knowledge of proper lifting capabilities of bed truck
  • Cleans and maintains truck
  • Makes sure truck has proper rigging equipment to perform job safely
  • Helps out in yard, when asked
  • Answers phone when needed for after-hours duty
  • Mentors Bed Truck Drivers: Level 1
  • Demonstrates knowledge of where all pieces set
  • Performs paperwork daily
  • Assists with other operations as needed
  • Mentors Bed Truck Drivers: Levels 1 & 2
  • Fully understands Ensign’s ethics policy and its application in all business dealings including contractual agreements and contract negotiations
  • Understands and agrees to follow all of Ensign’s Policy and Directives and procedures as set forth in the Ensign Company Policy and Basic Directives Handbook for Employees
  • Maintains valid First Aid and CPR Certifications and technical and safety certifications required by company or government agencies; remains current on all OSHA, EUSD and other required training
  • Conforms to a drug-free workplace, not be under the influence of mind-altering prescription or non-prescription drugs, including alcohol and other drugs of abuse.
  • Understands fully the Ensign Health and Safety policy and self-responsibility for own health and safety at work; Demonstrates responsibility to avoid adversely affecting the health and safety of others through any act or omission
  • Uses the correct protective clothing and equipment as provided by Ensign and guards against misuse or damage to such equipment
  • Reports any hazardous situations arising in the workplace that cannot be self corrected, or injury incurred during the course of work, no matter how minor
  • Avoids injury resulting from manual handling tasks, by use of risk assessment, correct mechanical handling equipment and correct manual handling techniques
  • Understands and is capable of reading all safety / training requirements and materials
  • Demonstrates knowledge of basic mechanical and technical skills
  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills
  • Works in a manner that insures personal safety and the safety of fellow employees.
  • Maintains a professional, effective, and polite relationship with other Ensign employees and suppliers
