About The Position

The Well Field Protection Specialist supports the protection and sustainability of the City’s drinking water supply by implementing programs that monitor, assess, and protect groundwater resources. This position conducts hydrogeological investigations, evaluates groundwater quality and quantity, and supports data-driven strategies for source water protection. The Well Field Protection Specialist collaborates with internal teams, regulatory agencies, and external partners to ensure environmental compliance and long-term resource sustainability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Hydrology, Environmental Science, Water Resource Management, or related field AND 3 years of related experience, including 2 years of professional hydrogeologic experience.
  • OR Master’s Degree in Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Water Resource Management, Geology, Hydrology, or related field AND One year of professional hydrogeologic experience, including groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling.
  • Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
  • Ohio EPA Class II Water Supply Certification (required within 12 months of appointment)
  • HAZWOPER Certification (required within 6 months of appointment)

Nice To Haves

  • Employees holding a Class III Water Supply Certification may be eligible for higher compensation (P24).
