About The Position

Chemetics Inc. (Worley Group) is a diversified technology company that provides design and engineering solutions to the chloralkaline, sodium chlorate, chlorine dioxide, and sulphuric acid industries worldwide. It is a Company with a 60-year history in Vancouver with diverse cultures, talents, and highly skilled professionals. Chemetics operates a specialized alloy fabrication shop in Pickering, ON. We are currently recruiting for a Welding Technologist. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based at our fabrication facility in Pickering, ON Canada. The Welding Technologist will support the Welding Engineer in the welding control of an ASME Code fabrication facility. This role focuses on welding procedure testing, production support, laboratory testing, documentation, traceability, and coordination of welding-related activities on the fabrication shop floor. The successful candidate will be a hands-on individual who is organized and detail-oriented, working directly with welders, foremen, inspectors, and technicians.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Welding Engineering Technology, Welding Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
  • Welding inspection training or certification.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on interest in welding, fabrication, testing, or laboratory work.
  • Ability to work independently.

  • Welding Technician or Technologist graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Engineering graduates with a strong interest in welding and fabrication are encouraged to apply.
  • Equivalent practical welding, fabrication, inspection, or testing experience will be considered.
  • Experience with welding, inspection, fabrication, testing, or laboratory activities is considered an asset.
  • Hands-on welding experience.
  • Metallography or materials testing experience.
  • Familiarity with ASME Section IX, AWS, or CSA welding standards.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor welding qualification and production testing activities.
  • Set up, witness, document, and execute welder qualification tests and PQRs.
  • Prepare, revise, and maintain welding tickets, and related documentation.
  • Assist with metallography and laboratory testing activities.
  • Track welding tests through production and maintain sample traceability.
  • Maintain welding consumable inventory and assist with sourcing of specialty filler metals.
  • Setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of welding equipment and automated welding systems, fixtures and jigs.
  • Monitor production and project specific concerns.
  • Preparation of weld maps and assist in development of fabrication plans.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $67,077 to $78,917 CAD for applicants based in Ontario.
