The Welding Technician will be responsible for safely handling, positioning, and processing metal parts to perform various welding functions. This includes clamping and aligning sheet metal parts and performing high-precision TIG/MIG welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and steel sheet metal components (primarily 10–22 gauge) to complete assigned work orders. The role involves reviewing technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to understand material requirements, welding specifications, delivery sequences, and any required protection of critical parts. The technician will set up, align, and secure parts using jigs, fixtures, and clamps to ensure accurate tolerance, producing clean welds with minimal distortion for efficient finishing. A key aspect of the role is visually inspecting welds and using measuring tools to ensure parts meet client requirements and company standards, as well as protecting the finish of parts, sub-assemblies, or units before and after welding. The technician will collaborate with Sr. Welders, Grinding & Polishing Technicians, Leads, or Supervisors to ensure timely completion of equipment and orders, and may take the lead on tasks when working with Assistant Welding Technicians, providing mentorship and training. Routine maintenance of welding equipment, maintaining clean work areas, and accurate production record-keeping are also essential. The role requires active participation in safety initiatives, strict adherence to safety protocols and health regulations, and following the 5S program. Support for operations and other departments may be required to meet overall company objectives.
