About The Position

Laitram Machinery, Inc. has a position available for a Welding Shop Helper. This individual will be a key player in fabrication operations at our Harahan, LA location. Applicants should be self-starters, able to complete tasks with little direct supervision. Requirements

• High School diploma, GED Equivalent, or Vocational School diploma.
• Ability to work in and maintain a safe work environment
• Entry level knowledge of all equipment and tools necessary to perform the duties required
• Ability to learn how to operate material handling equipment to move and align materials
• Must be able to learn Laitram Machinery Quality Standards
• Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift and move 50 lbs

Nice To Haves

• Previous fabrication experience and/or vocational training.
• Previous overhead crane experience
• Previous forklift experience

Responsibilities

• Perform general housekeeping/clean up in assigned area
• Operate shop equipment as necessary
• Assist fabricators in performance of their duties
• Gather materials.
• Move material to next station
• Assist as need with cleaning and appling chemical treatments to welds
• Assist other departments as needed through cross‑training and providing coverage during busy times
• It is essential that this position is performed at the facility.
