Responsible for inspecting products to ensure TrueNorth Steel meets quality, contract specifications, and meets external certification standards. This role involves ensuring that all materials and workmanship adhere to relevant industry standards such as UL, STI, API, AWS, AISC, or City of LA standards, as well as drawings and specifications. The inspector will examine materials and finished goods for customer requirements and contract specifications, with a focus on welds, welding consumables, base material, cut and formed parts, layout work, and coatings. A general understanding of coatings inspection, including blast and paint inspections, is also required. The position involves reviewing welding specifications, collaborating with the team to resolve fabrication challenges, documenting and segregating non-conforming materials, and working with management to address and prevent non-conformances. Ensuring Welding Specification Procedures (WPS) are current, and that inspection and welding equipment maintain calibration and verification, are key responsibilities. The role also includes ensuring proper bolting and pre-qualification procedures are followed, supporting company Quality Management Systems, and operating an overhead crane safely. Flexibility in working hours, including overtime and weekends, is expected, along with prompt and dependable attendance.
