As a Welding Operator in South Brunswick in First Shift you will perform all-around maintenance and repair services in several crafts, such as electrical, carpentry, welding, plumbing, sheet metal, millwright, and painting, at a moderately complex level. Apply skills in a primary craft gained from practical experience. Possess an in-depth understanding of maintenance history of the building, equipment, and other facilities to be maintained. Use expertise for diagnosis and emergency repairs, provide preventive and cost-efficient repairs, use all shop machinery and hand tools, act as leader for less-skilled assistants, consult with engineers and vendors.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of various welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-core) and metal properties.
  • Hygienic or high-purity specialized TIG welding
  • Ability to stand for long hours, lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), and work in confined spaces or at elevated heights.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail to execute precise welds.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications (such as those from the American Welding Society - AWS) are highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and welding symbols to plan layouts and procedures.
  • Material Preparation: Cut, shape, and clean metals using saws, angle grinders, and plasma cutters to remove grease, rust, or moisture.
  • Welding Operations: Join components using manual or semi-automatic equipment in various positions (flat, vertical, or overhead).
  • Quality Assurance: Assess and test welded surfaces for flaws, ensuring they meet structural specifications and industry standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain, troubleshoot, and set up welding machines (e.g., regulating gas flow, voltage, and wire speed).
  • Safety Compliance: Follow strict safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as heat-resistant gloves, welding masks, and safety boots.
