Requirements

A high School diploma or equivalent.
5 or more years’ of welding experience and one year teaching/training experience.
A State of MS teaching credential or industry recognized certification
The ability to motivate and mentor young people
A desire to make a difference in your community
A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
The ability to successfully pass background check and drug test

Nice To Haves

Higher level education and training is preferred
Previous Job Corps experience in an academic/instruction capacity is preferred

Responsibilities

Deliver hands-on, industry-aligned welding instruction that prepares students for real-world careers
Design and implement structured lessons while adapting to diverse learning styles
Track, evaluate, and document student progress, skill attainment, and attendance
Provide coaching, mentorship, and accountability to help students develop both technical skills and professional behaviors
Reinforce workplace expectations by teaching employability skills such as communication, reliability, and teamwork
Maintain a safe, compliant training environment by enforcing safety standards, proper equipment use, and PPE protocols
Serve as a positive role model - promoting structure, consistency, and a culture of respect
