We are a full line steel service center with product line distribution, flame, plasma, and laser processing, welding, forming, rolling, and reinforcing steel capabilities. This is a Full Time, Onsite position with a Day Shift schedule, typically 4:30 am to 1:00 pm, Monday to Friday. The wage is $20.60 to $32.25, depending on experience. A weld test will be required, and candidates should bring their welding hood to the interview. The purpose of this position is to weld components by prescribed methods required or as called out on customer’s blueprints and specifications, meeting quality requirements set forth by AWS D1.1 or greater. This role will also provide instruction for the development of welder trainees.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be reliable, on time and ready to work daily.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blue prints and welding, engineering and material specifications.
  • Must be proficient in MIG, FCAW and tack welding, and standard metal working tools.
  • Must have solid math, dimensional and reading skills, and also be able to use a tape measure.
  • As a condition of employment, all applicants are required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Farwest adheres to federal regulations in regard to drug-testing, which includes THC. Pre-employment drug screen and background check must be completed, post offer of employment.
  • Farwest participates in E-Verify and we confirm each candidate’s eligibility to legally work in the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review blue prints and job specifications with supervisor.
  • Learn to set-up welder current, amperage, and gas flows to the prescribed settings for material being welded.
  • Develop skills required to set up parts that are tacked or fixtured for welding.
  • Weld components together meeting AWS D1.1 standards or greater.
  • Check dimensions and tolerances after welding and cooling. Use industries standard methods to straighten, ream, and debur as required.
  • Provide technical direction and support to welder trainees.
  • Participate in insuring a safe work environment through best practices including promoting of all company safety policies, OSHA guidelines, maintenance of a 5S work station.
