About The Position

Rice Lake Weighing Systems (RLWS) is seeking a Welder to manufacture tough scales. The Welder will perform welding to satisfactory product standards and specifications, ensuring all items meet RLWS quality standards. This role involves operating various tools and equipment, laying out and fitting parts, and performing welding in multiple positions. The Welder will uphold high-quality work and safe practices.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Welding degree or 2 (two) or more years of manufacturing welding experience
  • Working knowledge of the practices, materials, methods, and tools of the welding trade
  • Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precaution of the trade, and of the properties of ferrous and non-ferrous metals
  • Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints and other manufacturing documentation
  • Good hand eye coordination and dexterity
  • Good communications skills required
  • Ability to efficiently read a tape measure and other inspection tools
  • Frequent lifting <30lb
  • Occasional lifting/carrying up to 50lb
  • Must have ability to read and speak English

Nice To Haves

  • Overhead crane and forklift experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding to satisfactory product standards and specifications.
  • Ensure all items meet RLWS quality standards.
  • Operate carbon air-arc, pencil grinders, disk grinders, cutoff wheels, and other hand tools.
  • Layout and fit various parts and assemblies.
  • Use various types of welding equipment set up in a variety of positions (flat, vertical, horizontal, overhead).
  • Ensure high quality work and safe practices are followed.
  • Operate the overhead crane and forklift to move material.
  • Perform MIG welding operations to RLWS quality standards and expectations.
  • Read blueprints to perform proper welds.
  • Grind parts and occasionally blast parts before or after welding operations.
  • Work in a small group setting and independently to complete required workload.
  • Operate power tools and basic hand tools.
  • Other functions as assigned.
