About The Position

This employee welds components used to build Ditch Witch equipment. This employee may also run a Robotic Welding Machine. As a cross-functional team member of this division he or she may also assemble components and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Appropriate reading, clerical, and basic math skills.
  • Appropriate mechanical skills, including experience using hand and air-powered tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.).
  • Appropriate MIG welding experience in all phases of welding (short arc, spray transfer, hard surfacing and submerged arc) also have experience in cutting processes, oxyacetylene torch and plasma torch (Welder II).
  • Pass the written Production Welder II test over symbols with a minimum score of 70% and the hands-on macrotech test to determine the quality of the weld (Welder II).
  • Demonstrates the ability to weld production jobs to print, while following standard work with little to no supervision (Welder II).
  • Knowledgeable of SAP and able to utilize the system, and assist others, based upon job needs (Welder II).
  • Appropriate MIG welding experience OR have completed a formal welding training program (or the equivalent in training and experience) (Welder I).
  • Pass required entry-level plate test for production welding (Welder I).

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate from technical school preferred (Welder II).

Responsibilities

  • Welds components used to build Ditch Witch equipment.
  • May run a Robotic Welding Machine.
  • May assemble components and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Reads information from blueprints, technical manuals or other documents.
  • Sets up fixtures, mounts parts in fixtures, and performs mechanical assembly.
  • Uses hand and air tools such as wrenches, torque wrenches, impact wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.
  • Uses a hoist to lift and position large, heavier components and completed weldments.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates MIG welding equipment to weld machine components.
  • Removes components from fixtures, cleans and checks them for quality, and corrects errors or deficiencies of weldments.
  • Uses a computer to check the location, inventory, routing of parts, and to record inventory transactions.
  • Instructs and trains others on best practices in production welding (Welder II).
