Welder
About The Position
The Welder is responsible for setting up and operating equipment to meet quality and productivity standards using electric arc or automatic wire feed processes. This role involves welding parts, ensuring weld joint soundness and proper dimensions, and may be subject to various inspection tests. The Welder will read blueprints, handle materials and tools, inspect parts, and perform repairs. This position requires minimal supervision for assembly or production duties, proper tool storage, and assisting with quality testing and other assigned tasks. The role also involves maintaining performance standards in assembly, production, quality, safety, and housekeeping.
Requirements
- Ability to perform each essential duty safely and satisfactorily using good judgment.
- Sherman & Reilly Weld Certification and AWS Specification D1.1. 94 and D1.3 89
- High school diploma or general education degree
- 6 months’ experience in manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations at a high school level.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving root cause and corrective action analysis.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for set up and operations as required by drawings to meet acceptable quality and productivity standards by either electric arc or automatic wire feed process
- Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc or gas welding equipment.
- Demonstrate soundness of weld joints while maintaining proper weld dimensions, heat and depth of weld to parts
- Shall be subject to radiography, dye penetrant inspection or bend tests
- Responsible for reading blue prints, handling materials and tools such as; tape measures, plasma cutter, cutting torches drill, bolts, clamps, etc.
- Inspects parts or completed units by using visual inspection, gages, tape measures, check fixtures, calipers, or other inspection equipment.
- Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling parts.
- Performs a variety of assembly or production duties with minimal supervision.
- Responsible to see that all company supplied tools used are placed into proper storage cabinets daily.
- Assist quality in testing and other efforts as required
- Conduct rope winding as necessary
- Assist and maintains acceptable performance standards for assembly, production, quality, safety, and housekeeping.
- Performs all other assigned duties as instructed by supervision.
