About The Position

Meyer Utility Structures is looking to hire 2nd shift Welders for their plant in Hager City, WI. Welders will be responsible for welding according to blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials. The role involves laying out, positioning, aligning, and fitting together fabricated parts of metal according to various technical documents to build utility structure products. Meyer Utility Structures is a subsidiary of Arcosa, Inc., and is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications.

Requirements

Minimum of 1 year of applicable welding experience or successful completion of weld training and education
The ability to maintain reliable and predictable good attendance

Nice To Haves

Flux or Metal Core welding experience highly preferred
Ability to accurately measure within specified tolerances highly preferred
Ability to read blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders highly preferred
Previous experience manufacturing transmission poles or related products is highly desired, but not required

Responsibilities

Perform basic repairs
Perform full penetration (such as slip joint) welds to weld ends to poles or channels
Operate grinding equipment
May lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies
May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools in accordance with layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches
May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications
Maintain and complete all required records
Qualify as a flat welder
Maintain 90% pass rate on UT inspection
Observe all standard safety practices
Perform other duties as assigned
