About The Position

Steeped in a tradition of hydropower, American Hydro is a leading supplier and installer of large equipment for the hydro electric industry, specializing in design, engineering, precision CNC manufacture, upgrades and servicing of high-performance, hydro-turbines and large pumps. We are currently looking for an Welder to add to our team located at our York, PA facility. We are a tight-knit group that takes a great deal of pride in what we produce. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Three years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Detail oriented.

  • Ability to adhere to the Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety guidelines.

  • Proficient in blueprint reading except geometric tolerancing.
  • Fully proficient with FCAW and SMAW.
  • Able to set parameters to optimize the operation of the process(s).
  • Able to produce high quality welds.
  • Capable of operating gas cutting and air arc gouging process on all but the most challenging applications.
  • Able to weld using larger wire sizes in many situations.
  • Able to operate jib cranes and forklifts to facilitate positioning of weldments.
  • Able to make roll and positioner set ups and assembly of simple, smaller weldments on same.

  • Proficient: Must possess qualifications, skills and experience of former classification.
  • Novice: Able to use GTAW process.
  • Proficient: Fully proficient with SMAW, FCAW and SAW.
  • Competent: Qualified to perform SAW machine welds on both stainless and carbon steel.
  • Competent: Able to set parameters to optimize the operation of the process(s).
  • Competent: Able to produce high quality production welds.
  • Competent: Capable of operating gas cutting, plasma, and air arc gouging process on all but the most challenging applications.
  • Competent: Able to weld using larger wire sizes in many situations.

Responsibilities

  • Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other materials by applying appropriate techniques using various welding devices.
  • Assemble or repair damaged pieces of metal using machinery that emits high heat temperatures.
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading except geometric tolerancing.
  • Fully proficient with FCAW and SMAW.
  • Able to set parameters to optimize the operation of the process(s).
  • Able to produce high quality welds.
  • Grind parts as needed per drawing and verbal instruction.
  • Capable of operating gas cutting and air arc gouging process on all but the most challenging applications.
  • Able to weld using larger wire sizes in many situations.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Keep Supervisor informed of problems regarding work, piece, schedule, safety, etc. as they arise.
  • Able to operate jib cranes and forklifts to facilitate positioning of weldments.
  • Able to make roll and positioner set ups and assembly of simple, smaller weldments on same.
