About The Position

Steeped in a tradition of hydropower, American Hydro is a leading supplier and installer of large equipment for the hydro electric industry, specializing in design, engineering, precision CNC manufacture, upgrades and servicing of high-performance, hydro-turbines and large pumps. We are currently looking for an Welder to add to our team located at our York, PA facility. We are a tight-knit group that takes a great deal of pride in what we produce. Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Three years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Detail oriented.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work in teams and independently.
Ability to problem solve.
Ability to adhere to the Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety guidelines.
Ability to take initiative.
Ability to multitask.
Proficient in blueprint reading except geometric tolerancing.
Fully proficient with FCAW and SMAW.
Able to set parameters to optimize the operation of the process(s).
Able to produce high quality welds.
Capable of operating gas cutting and air arc gouging process on all but the most challenging applications.
Able to weld using larger wire sizes in many situations.
Able to operate jib cranes and forklifts to facilitate positioning of weldments.
Able to make roll and positioner set ups and assembly of simple, smaller weldments on same.

Proficient: Must possess qualifications, skills and experience of former classification.
Novice: Able to use GTAW process.
Proficient: Fully proficient with SMAW, FCAW and SAW.
Competent: Qualified to perform SAW machine welds on both stainless and carbon steel.
Competent: Able to set parameters to optimize the operation of the process(s).
Competent: Able to produce high quality production welds.
Competent: Capable of operating gas cutting, plasma, and air arc gouging process on all but the most challenging applications.
Competent: Able to weld using larger wire sizes in many situations.

Responsibilities

Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other materials by applying appropriate techniques using various welding devices.
Assemble or repair damaged pieces of metal using machinery that emits high heat temperatures.
Set up components for welding according to specifications.
Proficient in blueprint reading except geometric tolerancing.
Fully proficient with FCAW and SMAW.
Able to set parameters to optimize the operation of the process(s).
Able to produce high quality welds.
Grind parts as needed per drawing and verbal instruction.
Capable of operating gas cutting and air arc gouging process on all but the most challenging applications.
Able to weld using larger wire sizes in many situations.
Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
Keep Supervisor informed of problems regarding work, piece, schedule, safety, etc. as they arise.
Able to operate jib cranes and forklifts to facilitate positioning of weldments.
Able to make roll and positioner set ups and assembly of simple, smaller weldments on same.
