About The Position

Amentum is looking for a Welder to join our team in McLean, VA! As a Welder, you will perform welding and fabricating activities, which entails various types of welds and layouts, including some installations and maintenance of piping systems.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, able to obtain and Maintain a Top Security Clearance
  • High School, Technical School, apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Four years of experience in Welding and/or pipefitting trade
  • Must possess or be able to obtain in one year, an ASME certification for pressure vessels

  • Ability to efficiently present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and/or other employees of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Layout, fit, and weld components to assemble structural forms, such as machine frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and building parts according to blueprints.
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools.
  • Fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping and piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial processing systems on basis of knowledge of system operation and study of building plans or working drawings.
  • Plan sequence of installation to ensure effective communication between all phases of installation.
  • Perform work based on preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Assist outside contractors with knowledge of facilities, operations, and utilities.
  • Perform other job-related duties.
