Chemours currently has an opening for a Maintenance Welder/Area Mechanic at our Washington Works facility. The Washington Works Plant Maintenance Welder/ Area Mechanic accomplishes, with a minimum of supervision, a wide variety of maintenance assignments. This is a day shift position.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must complete a hands-on welding assessment- Welding Process includes GTAW, with requirements- Open root 2” SS and Open root .5” CS.
  • 3 to 5+ years’ minimum experience in the field of Industrial Mechanical Maintenance.
  • Must have previous experience with manufacturing equipment, such as, pumps, piping, valves, filters, conveyors, etc.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
  • Experience with MS Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Proficiency in the use of SAP.
  • Applicant must successfully complete a validated aptitude test used in our hiring process and a skills assessment during the interview process.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including an on-call schedule, evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Ability to ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs.
  • Ability to wear industrial safety equipment including hard hat, gloves (both leather and chemical), hearing protection, FR clothing, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, goggles, respirators, chemical suit, Level A suit, full face respirator, SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus), Tyvek.
  • Ability to lift to 55 pounds frequently without accommodation.
  • Ability to stand on his/her feet for extended periods of time.
  • Must have excellent manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Ability to be physically flexible including bending, rotating, kneeling, crawl, reach overhead, and climb stairs.

  • Completed vocational-tech program directly related to Mechanical Maintenance and Installation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding on piping and equipment in shop and field.
  • Safely maintain all plant equipment, such as valves, pumps, agitators, fans, conveyors, piping, insulation, etc. per oral and written instructions.
  • Assist in performing scheduled maintenance on facilities and production equipment as required.
  • Interpret single line diagrams, piping schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Troubleshoot and dismantle defective machines/equipment and install new or repaired equipment or parts.
  • Safely perform work outdoors during all types of weather conditions.
  • Model appropriate behavior for: Safety Health Environment, Process Safety Management and Ethics and Core Values.
  • Other general maintenance work as needed.
  • Audit work for completeness and quality.
  • Enter information in SAP to manage and complete Maintenance Work Orders.
  • Communicate closely with Maintenance Supervisor, and Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Work closely with Technical Engineers and Area Supervisor on Tasks and Projects.
  • Participate in Mechanical Reliability Team & Improvement Efforts.
  • Communicate status of equipment repairs / equipment issues to team (daily).
