About The Position

EP² provides power management systems for commercial and utility industries, supporting power generation, transmission, and distribution. The Welder works in the Steel Department at the Electrical Power Products, Inc. facility in Des Moines, Iowa, and reports to the Steel Foreman. The role is responsible for welding and fabrication, operating appropriate equipment, and completing work precisely.

The Welder reads structural drawings and layouts; performs panel fabrication and steel fabrication; hangs doors for assembly and builds panels; welds components with various welding equipment; helps manage inventory and records materials charged to jobs; identifies and reports errors or discrepancies; and maintains the equipment used.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure.
• Experience using electrical and manual tools.
• Close attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong work ethic and reliable attendance.

Nice To Haves

• Welding, carpentry, or other related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read structurals and layouts.
• Operate shop tools and equipment.
• Perform all phases and types of panel fabrication.
• Identify possible errors or discrepancies in work, including layout prints and structurals, and bring them to the attention of the proper authority.
• Help control inventory and record usage and quantities of materials charged out to jobs.
• Complete steel fabrication, hang doors for assembly, and build panels.
• Weld components using various welding equipment.
• Maintain the condition of equipment being used.
