About The Position

The Welder position focuses on precision and quality in performing MIG and/or TIG welding, cutting, grinding, and finishing tasks to meet engineering specifications. This role involves ensuring proper weldment orientation, maintaining consistent quality standards, and inspecting completed welds. The position also requires efficient material handling using equipment like forklifts and overhead cranes, accurate data recording in the ERP system, adherence to safety protocols, and a commitment to on-time completion of parts. Additionally, the Welder will perform routine maintenance on welding equipment, assist in training team members, and contribute to continuous improvement by identifying and recommending updated manufacturing methods and collaborating on process enhancements.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent, Welding education/certificate and/or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
MIG and/or TIG welding experience required
Ability to read and understand the proper use of measuring instruments, CAD drawings, and blueprints
Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift safely
Valid driver’s license required
Basic shop math skills as rounding, positive/negative numbers, metric system
Experience or training with computers and ability to learn and use Aagard specific software
Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters
Ability to walk or stand up to 100 percent of the time
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb

Responsibilities

Perform MIG and/or TIG welding, cutting, grinding, and finishing tasks to meet engineering specifications.
Ensure weldments are properly oriented to design specifications before performing welding procedures.
Maintain consistent quality standards by following established processes and verifying finished work.
Inspect and test completed welds to confirm adherence to dimensional and quality requirements.
Efficiently handle and move materials or parts using forklifts, overhead cranes, welding tables, or other approved methods.
Accurately record data in the ERP system to capture part movement and associated costs.
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safe operations.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to completing parts on time, supporting project success and exceeding customer expectations.
Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and report any issues promptly.
Assist in the training and development of other team members to enhance overall team capability.
Identify and recommend updated manufacturing methods to increase productivity and reduce costs, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with team members to implement process improvements that enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
