About The Position

The Shop Welder sets up their own welding machine, fabricates and repairs simple components, and follows workplace safety rules and standards. The role is based in a shop, with work usually performed outdoors and sometimes at a client facility or job site. It involves exposure to loud noise, inclement or extreme weather, moving electricity, mechanical parts, vehicles, equipment, and hazardous materials. Long work hours and frequent weekend work are regularly required.

Requirements

• High-level proficiency in MIG and TIG welding.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Must have own tools.
• Fabricating experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• 3–5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and environmental health within the shop facility.
• Set up, maintain, and break down welding equipment.
• Reference blueprints and schematics to ensure component specifications.
• Ensure all equipment is in good and safe operating condition.
• Ensure welding procedures are known and followed.
• Ensure high-quality fabrication on all projects.
• Fabricate and repair simple components.
