About The Position

The Welder hand-welds components used to build Ring-O-Matic equipment. The position involves reading blueprints and other technical documents, assembling and positioning parts, setting up and operating MIG welding equipment, and inspecting and correcting completed weldments. Work is performed in a manufacturing plant with variable temperatures, noise, dirt, and physical and materials-handling hazards. Workdays may be up to 10 hours, with overtime as necessary.

Requirements

• Have 3 years of appropriate MIG welding experience or have completed a formal welding training program or certificate.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Skilled in reading a tape measure.
• Ability to handle items weighing over 50 pounds, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components.
• Appropriate mechanical skills, including experience using hand and air-powered tools.
• Appropriate reading, clerical, and basic math skills.
• Good work record demonstrating strong self-motivation, reliable attendance, attention to quality, ability to learn new skills, and a cordial, cooperative personality.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and assess, evaluate, and take appropriate action for a given situation.

Responsibilities

• Read information from blueprints, technical manuals, and other documents.
• Set up fixtures, mount parts in fixtures, and perform mechanical assembly using hand and air tools.
• Move and position parts manually or with a hoist; use a hoist for large, heavier components and completed weldments.
• Set up, adjust, and operate MIG welding equipment to weld machine components.
• Remove components from fixtures, clean and inspect them for quality, and correct errors or deficiencies in weldments.
• Maintain positive relationships with customers, clients, supervisors, and co-workers through behavior and communication.
• Meet or exceed typical expectations for productivity, quality, attendance, and safety.
• Follow safety guidelines and work safely.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
