About The Position

This is a day shift position with core hours from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Fridays may require mandatory overtime based on production needs. The role involves operating various welding and hand tools, reading blueprints, and following standard work and weld procedures to meet customer requirements. Responsibilities may include basic robot operation, problem-solving, and reporting material defects. The position emphasizes maintaining a positive work atmosphere, contributing to company objectives, and potentially working overtime. Adherence to the Steffes Code of Conduct and Core Values, including Customer Service, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Quality, and professional Conduct, is expected.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Combination of welding certification(s) and / or experience preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Windows, email, internet, etc.)
  • Communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Reading skills (Basic instructional and technical information)
  • Spelling
  • Ability to lift 70 pounds from floor to waist
  • Ability to carry 50 pounds
  • Ability to push and/or pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and/or stairs.
  • Stooping, crouching, kneeling and bending.
  • Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various types of welding tools and various hand tools (Including die grinders, angle grinders, etc.)
  • Read drawings, blueprints, and heat numbers, if applicable.
  • Follow and understand standard work, training guides, weld procedures, and acceptance criteria to meet customer requirements.
  • Basic robot operation, where applicable (loading and unloading parts, starting and stopping robot, daily device TPM, daily operator TPMs, and to notify lead or supervisor if any welds are not within tolerance).
  • Basic problem solving and decision making.
  • Follow and understand build boards and Kanban system requirements.
  • Report inconsistencies and/or defects in material, product, or equipment.
  • Make adjustments to various fab parts to allow proper alignment.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating collaboratively with customers, suppliers, co-workers, and management.
  • Helps company meet its Strategic, Quality and Safety objectives.
  • Perform work in compliance with EHS training and identified procedures/standard work.
  • Report any EHS incident or concern to your supervisor immediately.
  • Cooperate and contribute to the overall success of the EHS program.
  • Participate in job-specific training.
  • Complete work as indicated by standard work, processes, and/or procedures.
  • Notify supervisor for guidance if work cannot be completed as required.
  • Demonstrate and support the Steffes Code of Conduct.
