About The Position

Basic Function: Sets-up and operates GMAW (MIG) equipment on mild steel, aluminum and stainless according to blueprints and shop drawings.

Requirements

  • Trade School Certificate or 2 years of welding experience
  • Experience with and knowledge of hand tools.
  • Strong blueprint interpretation / reading skills.
  • Ability to crouch and kneel.
  • Must be able to pass written quiz and hands on weld test.

Responsibilities

  • Reads work orders and parts lists.
  • Works from blueprints given in work orders.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in welding. Determines material type and thickness of weld wire to use.
  • Sets-up welding equipment per material type listed on work order. Welds weldments per work order and blueprints.
  • Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products prior to welding.
  • Uses basic power hand tools and grinders to clean up weld work e.g. de-burring, clean weld splatter.
  • Completes a visual inspection of welded assemblies.
  • Supports the Hartzell Culture initiatives and displays and portrays the Hartzell Values.
  • Follows all safety practices and rules.
  • Maintains clean and safe working environment in line with company policies.
  • Support and completes other duties given by team leader as necessary.
