About The Position

The Welder performs production welding work and related activities to produce Apex products. The role involves welding components at a fast pace, including in vertical positions and downward motion, using common hand and power tools and welding equipment. The Welder inspects initial products and makes adjustments to achieve the required quality, maintains equipment and records, follows safety and company procedures, and keeps the work area clean and orderly. The position may also involve moving materials and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of work experience in production welding.
Demonstrated welding ability.
Ability to work overtime, including more than 40 hours per week and Saturdays, as required.
Ability to stand and walk continuously for 8–10 hours, if necessary.
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Perform welding work and related activities required to produce Apex products.
Weld components at a fast pace in vertical positions and downward motion.
Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt components into the required configurations and positions for welding.
Select and install torch tips and filler rods according to chart specifications or the types and thicknesses of materials.
Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs to complete electrical circuits.
Connect and adjust regulator valves to set gas flow and pressure and obtain the desired flames.
Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, including shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
Inspect initial products and adjust processes as necessary to produce quality products.
Maintain equipment in good working condition and report safety or maintenance concerns.
Move materials within the work area.
Follow company policies and procedures to produce quality products and services.
Report unusual conditions or questionable items to a supervisor.
Follow all safety rules and regulations.
Keep the work area clean and orderly.
Maintain records as required.
Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
