About The Position

Under the direction of the Fabrication Supervisor, the Welder works from customer drawings, fabricates and welds components to produce the highest quality products, while meeting departmental performance standards, customer specifications and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Successfully complete in-house welding test
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints at an advanced level
  • Accurately measure and lay out locations for welded components
  • Adjust weld as needed to accommodate varying thicknesses of steel
  • Operate grinder, drill, torch and crane as assigned
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documentation, etc.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards
  • Class A Welders: Capable of performing all aspects of welding. The employee can weld any type of project while consistently meeting or exceeding cycle times. The employee has the ability to fabricate from prints without the aid of fixtures. The employee has the ability to do prototypes while also working with engineering to develop fixtures; capable of being certified. Requires little to no supervision and has the ability to interpret blueprints and understands weld symbols.
  • Class B Welders: Has the ability to meet cycle times for production welding. Typically, are limited to welding products and parts that they have been specifically trained on. Requires little supervision and has the ability to interpret blueprints and understands weld symbols.
  • Class C Welders: This is an entry level welder with little to no experience who requires constant supervision. This is an apprentice type welder.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment working with Punch Press, Roll Form, and Break Press Machines.

Responsibilities

  • Using MIG and/or TIG, weld components together according to blueprints and Traveler
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee occasionally is required to walk, talk or hear, reach above shoulders, climb or balance, and sit
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to learn operations of multiple jigs/fixtures within a job area and must be able to regularly rotate jobs to meet schedules
  • Must work at a reasonable pace (measured by production efficiency) and within our quality standards to insure timely completion
  • Check and verify part numbers prior to assembly of product to customer specifications
  • Notify supervisor of part shortages before the part runs out
  • Inspect completed work relative to finish quality standards
  • Follow all job-related safety and health procedures
  • Perform other job-related duties as directed by supervisor.
