This position is responsible for laying out, positioning, aligning, and fitting components together using applicable machines, tools, and equipment. The welder will tack-weld parts to secure them in position for final welding, and set up and weld parts using welding equipment. A strong understanding of geometry, arithmetic, structural design, heat effects, and allowances for metal thickness is required to interpret blueprints, written instructions, and manufacturer specifications. The role involves using hand tools, setting up and operating shop machines, and performing arc and oxy-acetylene welding, cutting, and brazing on various metals. Maintaining production documentation and complying with company and HSE policies are also key responsibilities.
