About The Position

The Welder will perform startup and clean-up duties, analyze schedules, set up the welder, and weld components to the expected quality and target rate. This role involves monitoring equipment, addressing minor issues, and escalating significant ones. The position also emphasizes continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency. Responsibilities include using measuring equipment, interpreting blueprints, maintaining a clean work area, and supporting plant operations.

Requirements

  • Competency in using welding equipment and accomplishing quality welds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team.
  • Technical training in welding and experience of less than one year, or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Perform startup and clean-up duties associated with the welder position as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Obtain current schedules, prints, BOMS, and work instructions for each run.
  • Analyze schedule documents and run parts to the appropriate target rate.
  • Setup the welder at the start of each run per the document process.
  • Obtain a first-piece approval for every run.
  • Weld components to the expected quality and target rate.
  • Monitor equipment and welder for wear and tear.
  • Address minor issues and escalate appropriate issues to support elements.
  • Comply with all safety protocols including consistently wearing required PPE per policy, completing safety audits monthly, complying with all safety policies and procedures while eliminating and resolving potential hazards before they become an issue.
  • Accurately use measuring equipment such as calipers, height gauge, and micrometers.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and notify appropriate support elements when non-conformances are identified with quality and attention to detail in mind.
  • Work independently with minimal assistance required once trained.
  • Think critically and demonstrate the ability to understand and set up machines.
  • Organization of area maintaining cleanliness and 5S elements.
  • Competency in using welding equipment and accomplishing quality welds.
  • Drive ongoing improvement in plant safety performance.
  • Willingly support rapid return-to-service plans whenever called upon.
  • Help maintain inventory of plant spare parts by reporting usage of parts and any observed shortages.
  • Identify potential or impending failures and implement effective preventive countermeasures.
  • Complete assigned inspections and preventive maintenance procedures on-time.
  • Maintain and continuously improve one or more 5S areas as assigned.
