About The Position

The Welder performs MIG welding and heavy fabrication and repair work on large-scale mining buckets and heavy equipment components at Weir’s onsite facility in Elko, Nevada. The work includes structural repairs, rebuilds, and modifications, with a focus on precision, durability, and compliance with specifications. The role also involves interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols; operating fabrication equipment; inspecting weld quality; and supporting a strong safety culture. Minimal travel is expected.

Requirements

Proven experience in MIG welding, especially on thick materials and structural components.
Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
Mechanical aptitude and experience operating grinders, torches, plasma cutters, and air arc equipment.
Successful completion of a welding test as part of the hiring process.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with large mining buckets or heavy industrial equipment.
Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in heavy fabrication environments.
Familiarity with wear parts and repair techniques specific to mining equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform MIG welding on large-scale mining buckets and heavy equipment components, including structural repairs, rebuilds, and modifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to complete work to specifications.
Operate grinders, torches, plasma cutters, and air arc equipment in support of fabrication and repair activities.
Inspect welds for quality and compliance with specifications, safety requirements, and durability standards.
Demonstrate commitment to Weir’s zero harm behaviors and safety culture.
Work primarily onsite at the Elko, Nevada facility; minimal travel is expected.
